Meet Mr. Coaty
Aloha!
I have retired as an attorney. My wife and I relocated to Hawai’i from Guam almost one year ago to assist in the care of our grandchildren while my daughter and son-in-law serve as officers in the U.S. Navy. I come from a large family of educators where both parents were teachers and administrators, and five of eight siblings were teachers and/or in the field of education.

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a degree in secondary education.  With that degree, and prior to law school, I taught at the secondary level (9th – 12th) at a public high school and at the elementary level (4th grade) at a parochial school. As an attorney I served in the U.S. Navy as an Officer of the  Judge Advocate General (JAG), conducted a private law practice and served at the Office of the Attorney General in Guam. During my legal career I continued my first love as an educator.  I have taught undergraduates and graduate students in myriad course subjects, and various professionals in continuing legal courses.

Meet Ms. Anuhea:

Aloha,

I am a product of the Lutheran School system! I attended Our Redeemer Lutheran (Manoa) from K-8th grade. My grandfather is a retired Lutheran pastor, my grandmother a retired teacher, and my father has been a teacher and principal in Lutheran schools.  I received my BA in Biological Sciences from Cornell University and a Masters in Tropical Plant Pathology from UH Manoa.

I work with a local non-profit on promoting STEM education in Hawaii, and creating a network of STEM professionals in the islands, with a focus on helping others succeed in Hawaii. I’m also a member of the American Indian Science & Engineering Society — so it’s no surprise I’m a huge supporter of Science Fair.

I look forward to helping every student find something interesting to them in the STEM realm!
