In the upper elementary and intermediate years, instruction focuses on core subjects, Bible Study, English, math, social studies, and science. While we continue building basic skills, we also push students to research and develop original thoughts, which builds their leadership and communication abilities. We also enhance our learning through foreign language studies (Japanese and Spanish), music (band or choir), speech contests, National Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, MathCounts Competition, and extra-curricular sports. We departmentalize a few subjects, which enables teachers to teach from their particular strengths.
We provide a caring, structured environment, where the faculty and other students support students' physical, mental, emotional, theological, and values growth.

We believe students must gain a basic knowledge to reach higher goals, as well as learn to be responsible and to practice integrity in their learning, actions, and attitudes.
Tucked inside Aiea is our small Pre-K to Grade 8 school with a robust curriculum devoted to the life-long learning of the whole child in a changing world. Guided by the Lutheran Church’s educational emphasis, Our Savior strives for character and faith development, academic quality, and individual student achievement.
Care and support for each other comes naturally in Our Savior’s ohana (family-style) environment for students, teachers and staff. Its school-wide integrated Core Knowledge curriculum and the Spalding Phonics, Saxon Math, and Shurley Grammar in grades K-8 have helped students consistently place in the top quartile of the national Stanford-Achievement Test. Student interests develop through strong programs in music, Japanese and Spanish language, and computer instruction, with our core subjects.
We search for ways to enrich the whole child in our classes and with our after-school chess, Bible study, drama, music, hula (child & adult), Japanese, and study skills clubs.
